Product Description

1. Product Overview

Nomay Green PET High Temperature Tape combines green polyester film with single-sided silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive for powder coating, compatible metal-finishing processes and temporary process protection.

Common purchasing names include green polyester powder coating tape, PET silicone masking tape, powder coating green tape and green anodizing masking tape.

The product helps protect areas that must remain uncoated while providing visible masking boundaries. Translucent green versions can assist alignment where visibility through the tape is useful.

2. Product Construction

Backing: Heat-resistant PET polyester film.
Adhesive: Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Adhesive side: Single-sided.
Color options: Emerald green, deep green or translucent green, subject to model confirmation.
Formats: Self-wound rolls, liner-backed rolls, strips, circles, squares and custom die-cut masks.

Green refers to the tape backing, not necessarily the release liner. Confirm the liner material and release behavior for precision converting or automated placement.

The selected specification must identify the film and adhesive construction. Color alone does not establish a particular primer, coating thickness or heat rating.

3. Available Specifications

For the confirmed colored PET film and silicone adhesive family:

Thickness range: 0.012–0.1 mm; thicker constructions available on request.
Width range: 0.1–1250 mm.
Roll and master-roll length range: 33–3000 m.
Peel adhesion range: 5–1500 g, with test conditions to be confirmed.
Temperature resistance range: 180–220°C, matched to the construction and process.
Color: Green.

Confirm whether the quoted thickness refers to PET backing or finished adhesive tape. Finished tape thickness includes backing and adhesive, excluding any removable release liner.

The supplied peel-adhesion range uses g notation. Confirm the force-unit convention, specimen width, substrate, peel angle, test speed and dwell time before comparing values.

These ranges cover product-family options. Not every thickness, width, length and adhesion combination is available in one construction.

4. Key Features and Buyer Benefits

Powder-Coating Protection
The tape masks designated surfaces during compatible powder application and oven curing.

Defined Masking Edges
The film backing supports controlled coating boundaries when correctly positioned and pressed onto a suitable surface.

Visible Positioning
Green provides useful contrast on suitable metal and coated components. Translucent options allow underlying reference features to remain visible during placement.

Conformable Construction
Selected thin constructions can follow suitable curves and shaped surfaces. Thickness, adhesive coating and surface texture affect conformity.

Controlled Removal
A properly selected grade supports removal after validated processing, helping reduce cleanup and overlooked masking pieces.

Custom Converting
Slit rolls and drawing-based masks support repeated contact faces, hole openings and assembly locations.

5. Powder Coating and Contact-Surface Masking

Use the tape to protect designated grounding faces, assembly interfaces and other no-coating areas on metal components.

Typical parts include battery trays, energy-storage cabinets, automotive components, aluminum parts and photovoltaic brackets undergoing compatible coating processes.

Keep any electrical contact needed for electrostatic powder application exposed according to the process design. Remove masks before final electrical or mechanical assembly.

Inspect the exposed surfaces for coating intrusion, residue and damage. Where electrical contact is required, verify the finished connection performance.

Flat die-cut discs can cover suitable hole openings. Deep bores and internal threads may require separate masking plugs.

6. Surface Texture and Adhesion Selection

Clean, dry surfaces provide more reliable adhesive contact than dusty, oily or damp surfaces.

Textured powder coatings, sharp corners and irregular geometry can reduce contact area and increase edge lifting. A thicker adhesive layer may help some surfaces, but suitability must be established with the selected construction.

Do not compensate for poor surface preparation by assuming that higher peel adhesion will solve the problem.

Evaluate the actual substrate, cleaning method, application pressure and dwell time before the full production trial.

7. Anodizing, Plating and Electronics Applications

Anodizing and Electroplating
Selected constructions may be evaluated for masking non-treatment areas. Provide the bath chemistry, concentration, temperature, immersion time and complete pretreatment and rinsing sequence.

Heat resistance does not establish universal acid, alkali or plating-bath resistance. Check liquid penetration, edge sealing and removal after the complete process.

Electronics Processing
Selected grades may provide temporary masking or protection during compatible coating and thermal operations. Confirm electrical, residue and silicone-transfer requirements.

The tape is not automatically suitable for a 260°C solder bath, permanent coil insulation or thermal shielding of sensitive components.

Abrasive Blasting
Standard PET masking tape is not specified as a direct blast-resistant barrier. Applications exposed to abrasive impact require a dedicated masking construction.

8. Temperature and Exposure Conditions

The available temperature-resistance range is 180–220°C.

Confirm actual component temperature, exposure time, heating cycles and removal conditions for the selected grade. Include preheating, curing and repeated baking in the process review.

This range does not establish a universal continuous-service rating, 200°C for 24 hours or 220°C for 7 hours.

Extended-bake requirements may be submitted for dedicated construction evaluation. Exposure durations published for another manufacturer's tape must not be assigned to this Nomay model.

9. Application Procedure

Identify all areas to protect and process contacts that must remain exposed.

Clean and dry the substrate using a compatible method. Remove oil, dust, release agents and cleaning residues.

Apply without excessive stretching. Press edges uniformly and avoid wrinkles, channels or unsupported spans.

Run samples through the complete production cycle. Inspect edge lifting, shrinkage, coating seepage, film integrity and adhesive transfer.

Remove at the validated temperature, angle and speed. Check that all temporary masks are removed and the exposed surfaces meet the assembly requirements.

10. Removal, Inspection and Optional Versions

Peel adhesion depends on formulation, adhesive coating, substrate, pressure, dwell time and process exposure. Select both process holding and acceptable removal behavior.

Evaluate residue after the actual thermal and chemical cycle. Clean removal before processing does not establish post-process performance.

Green aids visual inspection against suitable backgrounds. Machine-vision detection requires validation of shade, translucency, lighting, camera settings and surface contrast.

Low-static, controlled-translucency and special-liner versions may be requested, subject to specification and model confirmation.

For downstream coating or bonding sensitive to silicone transfer, define the contamination requirement before selecting a silicone adhesive construction.

11. Comparison, Handling and Storage

Green and Other Colored PET Tapes
Choose color for positioning and inspection. Compare the confirmed material and adhesive construction rather than color alone.

Thin and Thick Constructions
Thinner versions may improve conformity and reduce masking-edge height. Thicker versions may improve handling where the geometry permits additional thickness.

Rolls and Die-Cut Masks
Rolls suit variable-length masking. Liner-backed shapes support repeatable geometry and controlled placement.

PET and Polyimide
Choose according to the complete thermal and electrical requirement. A process beyond the confirmed PET capability needs a separately qualified construction.

Store unused material in original packaging in a clean, dry environment. Follow the confirmed storage conditions and shelf life, and protect exposed adhesive and cut edges.
